ICF TESTIMONIALS

"Prior to building a new home, which is approximately 5,000 square feet in size, I was paying utility bills averaging $300 a month on my previous older home, which was only 1,800 square feet. It was located just a few miles away from my current home. I am pleased to report that I am paying approximately the same utility bills on the new home, thanks to the fact that it is built with ICFs.

I would highly recommend the ICF construction system as well as wood windows, radiant barrier roof sheathing and foam insulation to anyone considering building a new home. While the cost of using these superior products may cause a slightly higher mortgage note amount, paying the difference on the mortgage will be far less significant than paying wasted money on much higher utility bills! Many of my neighbors with similar size homes pay almost double! Add to that, the insurance savings you will enjoy year after year because of the superior construction.

When we chose to use ICFs I wasn’t even aware of another major difference that I would now have a hard time living without—Inside the concrete home, I don’t hear barking dogs, lawn mowers and other distracting noises. I have grown accustomed to the luxury of quietness in my home and do notice the difference when I’m visiting other homes not built with concrete."

Ray Hall of Hall Homes built an ICF strip center in Granbury, TX. After renting the units, Ray received a comment from leaser regarding quietness and energy efficiency.

"When we looked at this location for a potential site for our business June 17th, we were surprised to find out that the electricity was not on. The offices were so cool and it was obviously hot-hot outside. We have since enjoyed the low electric bills, which are such a change from our previous location."

"On October 17, a tropical storm dumped 18 to 20 inches of rain into South Texas. Many creeks and rivers were flooded including the Guadalupe River. It was called "The Big Flood" by the news media. Many frame homes were washed away, or were badly damaged by the force of the flood waters. But, the ICF homes suffered little damage, primarily broken windows and damage to the wood trim and deck. The strength of the ICF systems compared to the neighbors traditionally framed houses became very apparent. The ONLY damage to the ICF walls was one dent in the siding, caused by large debris hitting the wall. Several days after the flood the owners called to declare their appreciation of the strength of the ICF systems."

“I have a reinforced concrete and ICF (ICE Block) home in White Bluff on Lake Whitney, southwest of Dallas/Fort Worth. During construction, while the house was unoccupied, a small tornado hit the house on the west side. The tornado twisted & destroyed limbs on numerous trees, overturned dumpsters and twisted and tore the metal roof from the west side of the house. The roof was scattered for more than a mile to the southeast.

The house has a basement and two additional stories – other houses near by had roof damage and one lost an entire second story. My concrete home sustained no damage except to the wood and metal roof. Apparently the tornado came from the northwest, out of the lake and hit my house a direct blow on the west side, tearing and twisting the metal roof and wooden supports off – but did no damage to the house.

The date of the tornado was May 2, 2000. Since then we have had two or three more tornados in the Lake Whitney area, but no damage to my home.”

"As a present to ourselves we enclosed the garage and sat back and awaited the fated electric bills. Guess what! No change. We compared electric bills for 4 months (the old home versus the new) and we are currently saving an average of $70.00 - $75.00 per month on our electric bills."

"The Amvic Building System is the fastest, strongest and less product waste system of any ICF we have dealt with. Exceptional performance during construction and overall final results are outstanding."
